NHL Highlights 2024 | Mason Marchment & Cole Caufield Hat Tricks | Sabres, Bruins, Red Wings & More (2026)

The NHL delivered an action-packed weekend, with hat tricks, thrilling comebacks, and standout performances! But here's the big question: can anyone stop the surging Sabres?

Columbus Blue Jackets vs. Tampa Bay Lightning:
Mason Marchment was the hero for Columbus, scoring a hat trick and adding an assist in an 8-5 victory over Tampa Bay. This high-scoring affair saw the Blue Jackets take down the Lightning, who were on a 9-0-1 streak, thanks to Marchment's third career hat trick. Jake Guentzel's two goals and Nikita Kucherov's four-point performance weren't enough for Tampa Bay, who now sit at 32-14-4.

Montreal Canadiens vs. Boston Bruins:
Cole Caufield single-handedly kept Montreal in the game against their rivals, the Bruins, scoring all three goals in a 4-3 loss. Boston, however, had other plans, with Fraser Minten and Morgan Geekie scoring back-to-back goals in the final frame to secure the win. The Bruins have now won eight of their last 10 games, improving to 30-20-2.

Detroit Red Wings vs. Winnipeg Jets:
John Gibson continued his impressive streak, winning his eighth straight start for the Red Wings. Gibson made 26 saves against the Jets, and during his streak, he's allowed two or fewer goals in five games, including a shutout. J.T. Compher's multi-goal game helped Detroit take the lead, and they ultimately won 5-1, improving to 32-16-5.

Carolina Hurricanes vs. Ottawa Senators:
Rookie sensation Brandon Bussi continues to shine in the Hurricanes' net, making 35 saves and allowing just one goal in a 4-1 victory over the Senators. Bussi is now 19-3 on the season with an impressive 2.15 goals against average, third-best in the league. Seth Jarvis contributed with a goal and an assist, extending his point streak.

Los Angeles Kings vs. St. Louis Blues:
In a thrilling back-and-forth game, Jordan Kyrou scored a late equalizer for the Blues in the third period, sending it to overtime. However, Trevor Moore sealed the deal for the Kings in the shootout, securing a 5-4 win. Los Angeles improved to 21-16-13, while St. Louis dropped to 19-24-9.

Buffalo Sabres vs. New York Islanders:
The Sabres are on an incredible run, now 18-3-1 in their last 22 games after shutting out the Islanders 5-0. Alex Lyon stopped 26 shots for his second shutout of the season, while Jason Zucker and Tage Thompson led the offense. Buffalo is now third in the Atlantic Division, leaving the Islanders in third place in the Metro Division.

Utah Mammoth vs. Nashville Predators:
Mikhail Sergachev's three assists and contributions from multiple players helped the Mammoth extend their win streak to five games. Despite Steven Stamkos giving Nashville an early lead, the Mammoth responded with three straight goals and held on for a 5-2 victory. The Predators' late rally fell short, and they dropped to 24-23-4.

Florida Panthers vs. Minnesota Wild:
In a tightly contested battle, Sam Bennett's clutch power-play goal tied the game late in the third period. Brad Marchand then stepped up, scoring the game-winner in overtime for the Panthers. Marchand finished with three points, showcasing his offensive prowess. Florida improved to 27-20-3, while Minnesota suffered a setback, falling to 29-14-10.

And that's not all! The Washington Capitals and Edmonton Oilers are set to face off, promising another exciting matchup. Will the Oilers' high-powered offense prevail, or will the Capitals' defense shut them down? Stay tuned to find out!

But here's where it gets controversial: are the Sabres for real, or is this just a hot streak? Can they sustain their success, or will they cool down soon? Share your thoughts in the comments, and let's discuss the NHL's hottest team!
